Kelp is a plant species added in Minecraft game to add more variety and creativity in the game.
It was the first plant in the game to use animation and is found underwater in most of the oceans and seagrass. Mostly generated in the Colder Ocean Biome it has a variety of uses in Minecraft such as fuel resources, fertilizer or to sate hunger in an emergency.
The water source is built by Kelp for a water elevator. Making a water source with blocks is quite difficult. Filling a bunch of water buckets can result in a spill. This is time-consuming and frustrating. But with help of Kelp, you can place the source block at the top and water starts flowing downwards. Then planting the kelp at the bottom and keep on stacking them one above another.
(Kelp stacks are way easier to use than the bucket water) When kelp is in a flowing water block, it becomes a source block. Once, you go to the bottom and break the bottom kelp, you have a full water source block.
Animated water Graphics. Kelp adds a certain coolness to the underwater space. Without, Kelp inside the waterbody it just seems dull and plain sight.
Place blocks on the top of it. Whenever you want to place a build at the surface of the seabed you have to create a pillar from the bottom-up. And after you need to break it unless you require it there. But with Kelp, you can not only place the build on the top of it but also don’t need to break and remove it. It’s part of the seabed and saves any unnecessary extra work.
Kelp Is strong enough to take the load and this makes it quite efficient in various building blocks.
Just put a column of Kelp down and start setting blocks over it.
Compost. Kelp increases 30% of the compost to reach level 1. Kelp is very easy to get which makes it a viable option to increase the compost.
Make dried Kelp. Eating dried Kelp is twice as fast as anything else. Although, the energy given by it is lesser but can be consumed quickly. Kelp can be used for decoration. They provide a good amount of fuel. One Kelp block can cook up to 20 times. 9 dried kelps are required to make 1 kelp block, you can cook yield 11 times on a block. It is easily available so getting enough quantity is absolutely no hard work.
Farm it. To generate a large quantity of fuel, connect an automatic kelp farm to make a super smelter. This is expensive and for mid-game, but once you have one, you don’t have to worry about fuel. Kelp farm provides continuous kelp and you need to craft them into kelp blocks. It doesn’t take much to craft them so you don’t have to worry about the fuel again.
Let’s learn how to make an auto Kelp farm to make good use of it in the game.
Items you require
- 28 Glass blocks
- 6 pistons
- 6 observers
- 2 water buckets
- 96 building blocks
- 18 kelp
- 6 Redstone dust
- 3 hoppers
- 4 chests
- 6 half slabs
- Place seven glass blocks down. After that add 3 other layers on the top of it to make it 4 layers tall and seven blocks long.
- Take your building blocks and place them on the side of the glass block and make it 3 blocks wide.
- Repeat the exact procedure on the other side of the glass.
- Connect each side with one row of the building blocks.
- Place the piston on the single-row building block that connects both sides. in such a way that the brown part is facing the glass.
- Place the observers and make sure the red dot is facing you.
The final build should look something like this…
To add water to the build, make an infinite water source.
Start filling water inside the Build on the top of the observer.
After the water is filled start planting Kelp on the top of the 6 bases.
Cover the top of the build totally with blocks. Now, once your build is complete come down to right and dig the blocks and place the chest inside.
Fix it all together and connect the furnace to it. Remember to add some fuel to the furnace.
This is one of the easiest ways to build auto Kelp farms in Minecraft.
Use of Dried Kelp
Dried kelp blocks can be used as fuel in furnaces, blast furnaces, and smokers. Its burning time is 200 seconds (4000 ticks), and it can smelt 20 items. This is 2.5 times the burn duration of coal and charcoal, and 0.25 times the burn duration of a block of coal.
Dried kelp is better than coal in terms of efficiency.
Minecraft is one of the most adventurous game as it is built on exploration. But learning all about is looks impossible with so many features and tactics that can be used within a game.
This article aims to provide some uses of Kelp in the game that can help you play better.
